Brooks talking Mississippi State
Kentucky head coach Rich Brooks knows the importance of Saturday's conference matchup with Mississippi State on both sides.
A win for the Wildcats would leave them only one win shy of bowl eligibility but knows that MSU is also bidding for bowl contention as well.
"We're battling through some injuries and playing a what I think is a really critical game for both teams," Brooks said. "If Mississippi State wants to be in postseason they need to win and if we want to continue to make an impact in the SEC we need to win and would obviously help us as far as bowl eligibility is concerned."
The injuries Brooks is referring to come to some of his key personnel. Linebacker Micah Johnson is questionable for this weekend with a MCL strain while cornerback Trevard Lindley and quarterback Mike Hartline are both doubtful.
Hartline's injury has forced Kentucky to use a combination of Will Fidler, Morgan Newton and Randall Cobb under center in his absence. Fidler has completed 48.6-percent of his throws for 163 yards, one touchdown and one interception while Newton's completion percentage is at 42.1-percent with 56 yards, no touchdowns and one interception.
