Kitchens makes changes to recruitment
Homestead (Fla.) Homestead outside linebacker Darrin Kitchens has been taking some visits the past couple of months to see where he would like to attend college. One of those visits was to see the Florida Gators over the weekend.
"The visit to Florida was good," Kitchens said."The environment and the school spirit everybody has was good."
Kitchens, 6-foot-3, 215 pounds had Syracuse and Florida at the top of his list after a visit to Syracuse. Then the three star prospect took a visit to Florida State where he announced he did not have a leader. Now after the Florida trip his status has changed again.
"Florida State is great, but Syracuse and Florida are back to being number one and two in no particular order. I like Florida State and I would go there, but I do not like the probation that they are going to be under."
The Sunshine State product talked about what he likes right now about each school.
Syracuse: "I like the opportunity at the school and the opportunity that I would have after school."
Florida: "I like the fact that they are an elite football program and also the opportunities I will have after school to find a good career."
South Florida seemed to be in the mix, but after they fired Jim Leavitt that changed Kitchens view on the up and coming Big East program.
"I am not really feeling South Florida anymore," Kitchens stated.
Rivals.com had Kitchens listed as a visitor to South Florida this upcoming weekend, but with him not being interested in that school what will he do?
"I might take a trip to Kansas or Texas Tech this weekend."
With these new schools in the mix is it possible that they can shuffle things up between Syracuse and Florida? Kitchens had a short answer for that.
"Right now I do not know, but maybe."
A commitment could come as early as next week for Kitchens.
