Vandy offense needs refocus for deep Dance run
This is the time of the year that tries the souls of both coaches and fans.
In the SEC, a conference that traditionally sends as many as seven members to the NCAA Tournament, the schedule becomes a drag. Even teams that have losing records - like Georgia this year - can bring doubt into any coach's mind about just how prepared his team is for the Field of 65.
This year, bracketologists have long had Vanderbilt inked into the Big Dance. After Vandy's dud of a performance against MSU, one has to wonder if the team was mentally prepared for a potential three-games-in-three-days run to the title.
It's understandable. Once a team gets to the SEC Tournament, there's a temptation to look ahead. With the spectre of a one-and-done UK roster looming on Sunday, VU's lack of tenacity in their 64-54 semifinal loss to Mississippi State appeared to be more about mental exhaustion rather than physical.
