The next class of Raider linebackers
Dallas Skyline did not really get started in the 7-on-7 business until two years ago when they entered their first state qualifying tournament in Plano. Despite being newcomers to the game, Skyline made it to the semi-finals before losing, but used to experience to fortify themselves for runs into the Class 5A playoffs during each of the past two seasons.
Skyline participated in a national tournament last year, then returned to Texas this summer to try once more to qualify for the state 7-on-7 tournament in College Station next month. Two tournaments came and went without success and Skyline, like many other programs, had its last shot at qualifying this past weekend in Rockwall. As the saying goes, the third time was a charm for the Raiders, as they beat Mesquite Horn in the semi-finals to advance to state for the first time ever.
