Michigan State picked up their second basketball commitment for 2012 when 6-foot-5 Lansing Sexton star Denzel Valentine chose Michigan State over in-state rival Michigan, Georgetown, Butler and several others.

SpartanMag.com was informed of the commitment by Valentine's father Carlton Valentine Monday morning.

Valentine earned his offers with a stellar performance during the July evaluation period. Few players in the class of 2012 had a better July than the Sexton star. Valentine was the best player on a loaded Michigan Mustangs 16-and-under team all summer long.

Valentine becomes the second commitment of 2012 joining Medina (Ohio) combo forward Kenny Kaminksi.
