How much will Gholston contribute in 2010?
EAST LANSING - Freshman William Gholston will get his first taste of live game experience in Spartan Stadium this Saturday when Michigan State takes on Western Michigan.
What remains to be seen is how much time the 6-foot-7, 260-pounder will log, what role he will play, and whether he can help upgrade the Spartan pass-rush this year.
"All I can do is just be ready to contribute," explained Gholston, "do what the coaches ask of me and make plays."
The highest ranked player to sign in the Big Ten in the 2010 recruiting class, Gholston has the athletic ability and competitive fire to be a star at Michigan State. During the short time he has been on campus in East Lansing, Spartan coaches and defensive veterans alike have been impressed with the raw talent oozing from the true freshman.
"We need to watch Gholston play," said Michigan State coach Mark Dantonio during his weekly press conference on Tuesday. "I think that will be something that will be exciting to watch."
