Bulldogs add three-star DE
Mississippi State added the 17th member of its 2011 class on Friday when three-star defensive end Preston Smith joined the fold.
The 6-foot-6, 230-pounder from Stone Mountain, Ga., decided to become a Bulldogs after seeing MSU beat his home school team this past weekend.
"They have been recruiting him for a while probably since after the spring," said Stephenson assistant coach Corey Johnson. "I think the biggest interest from him came when they beat Georgia. That was kind of a big thing for him. They gave him an opportunity to stay in the SEC. He saw the opportunity and he jumped on it."
Smith chose the Bulldogs over offers from Florida Atlantic, Kentucky, Marshall, Memphis, Middle Tennessee State, Southern Miss, Syracuse, UCF and West Virginia.
