BulldogBlitz.com Mississippi State will tipoff the 2010-11 campaign tonight hosting Tennessee State at 7 p.m. as part of a doubleheader at Humphrey Coliseum along with its women's team.
The Bulldogs finished 24-12 last season which ended in the second round of the NIT with a 76-74 loss to North Carolina.
MSU is hoping to get off to a better start than they did last year. The Bulldogs dropped its opener to Rider 88-74 dropping their all-time record to 76-22 on the first game of the season.
Rick Stansbury is 9-3 during his coaching career in openers including a 7-2 mark at home. The Bulldogs have won 20 of its last 25 lidlifters dating back to the 1985-86 campaign.
Tonight's matchup against TSU will be the first ever meeting between the two schools on the hardwood. The Bulldogs do own a 26-4 record against teams from the Ohio Valley Conference.
State was 13-4 in non-conference action in 2009-10.
The Bulldogs shot 43.4-percent from the floor last season and averaged 72.8 points per game. Mississippi State also knocked down 35.8-percent from behind the arc and hit 68.5-percent off the free throw line. They limited opponents to 38.9-percent shooting and just 64.9 points an outing.
