There were moments during the Civil War that the offense looked solid, and then they'd shoot themselves in the foot. Batted balls were all over the place on Saturday and it hurt quarterback Ryan Katz as he really didn't get into any good rhythm.
Jacquizz Rodgers and Markus Wheaton stood out for having a marvelous day. We all know what Quizz can do running the ball and receiving, but he is a helluva blocker too. There were several plays, especially late in the third quarter and into the fourth quarter where Quizz leveled a would-be tackler to give Katz a few more seconds in the pocket.
Wheaton had a career performance making clutch catches to help extend Beaver drives.
I never questioned the call to go for the first field goal, but thought that the Beavers should have went for the touchdown the second time around. I also thought that the coaches abandoned the run a little too quickly in the second half as Quizz only had 8 of his 22 carries in the second half.
