Smith enjoys in home visit
Stone Mountain, Ga., three-star defensive end Preston Smith chose Mississippi State back in late September.
But after taking an unofficial visit the following month for the Kentucky game the 6-foot-6, 230-pounder knew for certain he was meant to be a Bulldog.
"I just felt comfortable with everything," Smith said. "It's not too far from home and I didn't want to be far from my mom. When I took an unofficial visit to watch them play Kentucky I just felt comfortable there. They made me feel at home. I liked the environment and the college feeling."
While on the visit to Starkville Smith paid close attention to the defensive ends coached by Chris Wilson.
"I liked their defense," Smith said. "They run a 4-3 and sometimes they will come out in a 3-4. I saw where their ends come off the edge and that's like me cutting up to the quarterback."
Last week Smith's future position coach Chris Wilson stopped by for his in home visit.
