Langi stays home
For Utah fans, all eyes were on the U.S. Army All American Game on Saturday, as four star running back Harvey Langi announced the decision to play for the University of Utah on national television. Langi, a standout athlete for Bingham High School in South Jordan, Utah, narrowed his college choices to Utah and USC after visiting both programs in December.
Langi rushed for 1399 yards and 17 touchdowns as a senior, leading Bingham to its second consecutive state title. The 6-foot-2 inch, 220 pound back is known for a punishing running style and the ability to gain yards after contact.
As an added bonus for Utah fans, Langi will be an instant addition to a running back group depleted by the graduation of seniors Matt Asiata and Eddie Wide as well as the medical retirement of sophomore Sausan Shakerin. Langi is an early enrollee and is expected to arrive on campus on January 15. He will participate in spring football and will be given the opportunity to compete with John White, Lucky Radley, Tauni Vakapuna and Beau Burton for the starting job at tailback this fall.
