Busy summer for Bledsoe
The summer is likely to be a busy one for Fishers (Ind.) point guard Jacobby Bledsoe. The 5-foot-9, 150-pound point guard has six scholarship offers and will spend much of the next two months at tournaments around the country trying to add to that total.
"I am kind of in high school mode right now with the high school team at team camps and things like that," Bledsoe said. "Our AAU team (D3 Pride) will be at the Adidas thing in Indiana soon, then Milwaukee, then Orlando and finish up Maryville.
"It has kind of been basketball-basketball-basketball."
His play has already earned him scholarship offers from Colorado State, Dayton, Drake, Oregon State, Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan. The Hamilton Southeastern High School product averaged 10.5 points, 4.4 assists and 3.3 rebounds per game a year ago. Those efforts earned him first team All-Conference honors and a spot in the Indiana Junior All-Star Game last week.
"Coaches like my leadership and my ability to run the team," Bledsoe said. "My defense is very good and I can knock in an open jump shot. This year I am working on creating for my teammates more."
On the recruiting front, Bledsoe said he is still not ready to pare down his list of scholarship offers to a top-5 or top-3.Instead, he wishes to let the offers and phone calls from coaches come in before narrowing down a list in July. He added he hopes to make a decision before the school year.
"I am looking for somewhere I can go fit in right away, play right away and impact a program," Bledsoe said."
The Colorado State Rams contacted Bledsoe and said they offered a scholarship. Bledsoe said he expects to get to know the CSU coaches a lot better over the summer.
"My dad told me they have offered me," Bledsoe said. "I haven't heard too much since then. They called my dad the other day and said they are going to be at a lot of my games this summer."
