Callins' Early Attention Reaping Rewards

A perpetual problem for recruits from the state of Oklahoma is the question by many coaches of just how good Sooner state talent is. As such, every year there are a few prospects that go overlooked until late in the game, or are simply never given their due. There are more than a few north of Oklahoma City who felt that Keaton Callins of Guthrie was one such player in the class of 2009.
Callins was a quality dual-threat quarterback that simply wasn't a natural fit for many of the Big 12 offenses that traditionally recruit the area and fell short of his FBS dreams, eventually signing with Fort Hays State.
His younger brother, Kai Callins, has a similar issue for many who question just where he'll play in the college game. What isn't a problem for the younger Callins is early attention, the skilled athlete, after starting for Guthrie as a freshman and helping the team to a state title as a sophomore he has drawn early attention from Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Iowa State, Kansas, and Tulsa.
