Maize N' View: Take the No. 1 jersey off its pedestal

TheWolverine.com No Michigan player has worn the No. 1 jersey since receiver Braylon Edwards departed in 2004. And that's a shame because every year it sits on a shelf, it loses its luster while building an overinflated sense of itself ...
It's a number. One of 99. It has been worn by some great wide receivers, including Edwards, David Terrell (1998-2000), Derrick Alexander (1990-93) and Anthony Carter (1979-82), but what makes No. 1 anymore special than No. 2 (worn by Charles Woodson)?
