Kittle living a dream
Blair Sanderson
HawkeyeReport.com With his father, Bruce Kittle, having played at Iowa in the 80's, George Kittle grew up a Hawkeye fan dreaming of running out of the tunnel at Kinnick Stadium himself one day. This year, he will get a chance to do just that after receiving a late scholarship offer and signing with Iowa in February. We caught up with Kittle to talk about his upcoming freshman year, what position he will play, and much more. Q: How are things going as you wrap up high school and get ready to leave for college? KITTLE: Good. My last day of school is Thursday and I graduate on Friday. Then I'm moving up next Tuesday, May 29, and living with my cousin, Henry (Krieger-Coble), this summer. So I'll be there when workouts start on June 4. Q: What made you want to get up there right away? KITTLE: I just want to start the next chapter in my life, so I want to get up there as soon as I can. I don't want to fall behind. I just want to get started and work hard all summer. Q: How much does it help having Henry there as you make the transition? KITTLE: It helps a lot because if I'm ever confused or falling behind, he's there to help me out and will do his best to make sure that I'm doing my best. Q: Overall, what are you looking forward to starting college this year? KITTLE: Really, just the whole college experience, but especially getting into a Division I football program and being able to show what I can do. Q: After everything settled down a few weeks after signing day, did it kind of set in just how crazy it all was getting a last second offer and committing to Iowa? KITTLE: Oh yeah. It was insane. It was the last second, but I jumped on it as soon as the offer was available.
