When Walton Academy running back Stanley Williams attended Dawg Night on Friday, it was a return to the event where he made his pledge to Georgia the previous year.
According to Williams, it was good to get back.
"Man, I had a good time," said Williams. "It was good to get back out there with the guys and compete. It was good to see those coaches and players and I had a lot of fun."
The rising junior worked out at running back at the event, but he also saw some in a different role.
"They split me out some at receiver, and it was really fun to do that. I'm going to be going some of that for my high school team this year then they did it Dawg Night so I thought it was cool," said Williams. "I really liked it out there because it was just another opportunity for me to make plays. I felt comfortable out there and coach (Tony) Ball came up to me and told me that he was really impressed with me out there and that they may use me out there when I get there."
The Georgia commit saw Dawg Night as a chance to also reconnect with a Georgia coach that has been showing him a great deal of love in the last few months.
"Oh yeah, Georgia is contacting me a lot and we talk a lot," said Williams. "I've been talking a lot with Coach (Bryan) McClendon and we are pretty close."
Although Williams says that he is still committed to Georgia, he is also taking visits and enjoying the process as much as possible.
In a few days he will be taking a visit to a campus he hasn't seen before, but looks forward to checking out.
"I'll be going to Florida State on Thursday, and I'm excited about that visit," said Williams. "I want to get down there and hang out with the coaches and players and see the campus. I'm really looking forward to that."
Even for a 2014 recruit, Williams has been one of the more quiet big-time prospects out there to this point, but that may change soon as he wants to let everyone know that something major is coming from him in a couple of weeks.
"I just want to let you guys and everyone else know that I have a big announcement coming in a few weeks," said Williams. "I've been talking with my family and we want to keep it quiet right now and give no hints, but I have a big announcement in a couple of weeks."
