Simpkins: Encouraging signs in the loss at Notre Dame

Ron Simpkins was encouraged by much of what he saw Saturday in the Wolverines' 13-6 loss at Notre Dame. Of course, he couldn't dismiss Michigan's six turnovers, and knows carelessness with the football can continue to haunt U-M ...

"I'm amazed it wasn't a 40-point blowout because when you turn the football over that many times you make it almost impossible for your team to win," said Simpkins.

"Obviously the reason it was close is because our defense finally started playing well, and they gave us a chance, but if we're going to win the Big Ten, we need our quarterback to start making better decisions, and for all of our guys to stop turning the football over. It's that simple."
