Analysis: Purdue presents challenges
Purdue gave up 41 points to a Marshall team that threw, and then threw some more in a 51-41 loss last Saturday, but that's not necessarily indicative of what the Boilermakers have on that side of the ball.
Former Michigan defensive tackle Will Heininger has watched plenty of film on this year's Purdue team and is impressed with what he's seen. The Boilers were at their best in a 20-17 loss at Notre Dame earlier this year.
"Purdue's got some playmakers," Heininger said. "They look more fundamentally sound than they have in the past. It's one of the better defenses I've seen Purdue have in recent memory. I haven't seen them live enough to know if they're great, but they've definitely got some ability on defense they haven't had before.
