TheWolverine.com analyst Ron Simpkins was impressed with Devin Gardner's effort Saturday in a win over Minnesota, so impressed in fact that he called it "one of the best performances by a backup quarterback I've seen in my lifetime."

"Here's a guy that spends almost all his time practicing one position [wide receiver] in the spring, in the summer, in fall camp and then in practices, and in one week he moves to another position and goes out there and was accurate, made some terrific individual plays, directed the offense successfully and showed poise and leadership - that's incredible," Simpkins said.
