Commit Updates: Lewis, Shallman to meet in finals

TheWolverine.com For the second consecutive season, Detroit Cass Tech and Detroit Catholic Central will battle for the MHSAA Division 1 state title. And, like a year ago, future Wolverines played a critical role in each squad earning the trip to Ford Field. Four-star cornerback Jourdan Lewis exploded for the Technicians, hauling in four passes for 87 yards (21.8 yards per reception) and a score in a 34-27 semifinal victory over Lake Orion, and four-star athlete Wyatt Shallman contributed a one-yard touchdown charge in the Shamrocks' 40-17 destruction of Rockford. Cass Tech downed Catholic Central 49-13 in the 2011 state final. Here is a more comprehensive look at how future Wolverines fared last weekend
Jake Butt: Butt caught six passes for 102 yards (17.0 yards per reception), and made eight tackles to lead Pickerington North (12-1) to a 21-0 playoff victory over Hilliard Davidson
Butt has stockpiled 946 receiving yards on 62 receptions (15.3 yards per reception) and 11 touchdowns in 2012
The Panthers clash with Archbishop Moeller in Ohio Division 1 semifinal action Nov. 24.
Gareon Conley: Conley amassed 134 yards and two touchdowns on six receptions (22.3 yards per reception), and added four tackles, but Massillon (11-2) was downed by Toledo Whitmer (49-16) in playoff action
Conley nabbed 50 passes for 1,096 yards (21.9 yards per reception) and 11 scores, was credited with 24 tackles, including two tackles for a loss and a sack, and returned an interception for a touchdown in his senior campaign.
Ross Douglas: Douglas sprinted for 71 yards and a touchdown on 14 carries (5.1 yards per carry) and caught two passes for 32 yards (16.0 yards per reception), but Avon (11-2) was trounced by Central Catholic 42-14 during Ohio postseason play ... Douglas gained 1,700 yards and scored 18 touchdowns on the ground as a senior.
Jaron Dukes: Dukes was held in check in Marion-Franklin's (11-2) 32-30 playoff loss to New Albany, snagging only two passes for 28 yards (14.0 yards per reception)
Dukes notched 31 receptions for 553 yards (17.8 yards per reception) and nine touchdowns in 2012.
Chris Fox: Ponderosa (11-1) lost a fumble on the goal line with just 53 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter and was eliminated from the Colorado state playoffs in a 19-14 upset loss to 10th-seeded Mesa Ridge.
Maurice Hurst Jr.: Xaverian Brothers (4-7) had a bye week
Hurst, Jr. has tallied 55 tackles, including 19 for loss and 10 sacks, and forced three fumbles this season
The Hawks conclude the regular season at home against St. John's Prep Nov. 22.
Patrick Kugler: Kugler made six tackles, including one for loss, and was a key blocker for a North Allegheny (12-0) offense that rushed for 154 yards and two scores in a 47-17 blowout victory over Seneca Valley
Kugler has registered 27 tackles, including three for loss and a sack, and his work in the trenches has helped the Tigers rush for 213.7 yards per game this year
North Allegheny faces off against Woodland Hills in a Pennsylvania State Championship Game at Heinz Field Nov. 23.
Jourdan Lewis: Lewis was good for 87 receiving yards and a touchdown on four receptions (21.8 yards per reception) in Cass Tech's (11-2) gritty 34-27 win over Lake Orion
He also had a punt return for a score that was called back because of a penalty
Lewis has corralled six touchdown passes, scored three times on special teams, has thrown a touchdown pass, and intercepted a pass this season

Mike McCray: McCray piled up seven tackles, including one for loss, and intercepted a pass for a Trotwood-Madison (11-2) defense that stymied Turpin in a 42-14 victory
The four-star prospect has recorded 105 tackles, intercepted two passes and forced a fumble this season
The Rams encounter New Albany in a Ohio Division 2 semifinal Nov. 23.
Henry Poggi: Poggi was effective on both sides of the ball, making eight tackles, including two for loss, and snatching a 10-yard touchdown pass to help Gilman (9-2) capture the MIAA 'A' Conference crown in a 34-32 conquest of Calvert Hall
The Greyhounds season has concluded.
Wyatt Shallman: Shallman scored on a one-yard plunge to compliment his six tackles in Catholic Central's (9-4) 40-17 playoff decimation of Rockford
The Shamrocks meet Cass Tech in the Michigan Division 1 title game Nov. 24 at Ford Field.
Channing Stribling: Stribling brought down a 14-yard pass in addition to making two tackles for Butler (13-0) in 25-15 triumph over East Forsyth
The Bulldogs take on Mallard Creek in a North Carolina Division 4AA semifinal contest Nov. 23.
Michael Ferns (2014): Ferns was in on 11 tackles, intercepted a pass, caused a fumble and caught a touchdown pass to spearhead St. Clairsville (13-0) in a 37-29 victory over Johnstown-Monroe
Ferns has stopped 99 ball carriers, including eight for loss and two sacks, intercepted a pass and forced a fumble thus far in his junior campaign ... The Red Devils butt heads with Norwayne in the semifinals of the Ohio Division 4 tournament Nov. 23.
