Simpkins: Michigan will approach offseason motivated
Ron Simpkins knows how Michigan's seniors feel. In his final season, the Wolverines fell to Ohio State and lost their bowl game, sending him and his classmates out the worst way possible. But for the returning U-M players, all is not lost.
"We never won a bowl game and so every offseason we went into it with a chip on our shoulder, and that's a great motivator because every time you're tired and don't want to lift or run, or don't want to spend that extra 15 minutes watching film, all you have to think about is how you felt at the end of the year, and you can push through it," Simpkins.
"Outside the program, from a national perception view, there is definitely something tangible about winning that Jan. 1 game, beating an SEC opponent, but inside the program, there is a silver lining; there's a reason why so many great seasons come on the heels of a disappointing loss the year before."
