Prior to receiving an offer from Stanford last week, Ohio offensive lineman Alex Dalton wasn't being recruited by the Cardinal. Sure, Stanford requested a transcript and sent a few generic emails, but Dalton hadn't so much as even had a phone conversation with one of the Cardinal coaches.
"Personally I had never talked to Stanford. I hadn't heard anything from them until about two days ago. The first thing I ever heard anything from them verbally. I hadn't even received any letters from them at all. I got a couple of emails maybe or something like that. They had sent in for my transcript. I heard from guidance counselors from that viewpoint, but before that I had never heard anything.
So you can imagine Dalton's surprise upon receiving the Cardinal offer.
"The offer was kind of blind to be honest," Dalton said. "I had no idea."
