Maize N' View: Ross III must elevate play in Ryan's absence

With the news Wednesday that Jake Ryan has torn his ACL and will likely miss the 2013 season, optimism of a Big Ten title has faded for many, but it can still be achieved if Ryan's teammates rise up to compensate for his loss.

Here is a look at the five Wolverines that have to ramp up their game, and make more big plays, in order to fill Ryan's shoes.

Junior defensive end Frank Clark: Tipping the scales at 277 pounds, up from 262 last fall, Clark already seemed determined to become a difference-maker for the Maize and Blue this year. Defensive coordinator Greg Mattison shared last week that Clark has matured considerably both on and off the field in the past few months and is hopeful all the hard work he has put in will translate into a monster season.
