Fun returns to Tech practice fields
The high in Lubbock on Friday was about 60 degrees. It was beautiful outside, with hardly any wind, at least for Lubbock standards. But it was cold.
Why would anyone be hosting a pool party in those conditions?
Well, there wasn't a pool party going on. It was the new Texas Tech football practice routine under brand new head coach Kliff Kingsbury. A practice where music was pumped onto the Red Raiders' football training fields. A practice flowing to the beats of Kanye West, Jay Z, Drake and even old school songs from Biggie Smalls.
It sounded like a party though. In about a month the same songs will be played at high volumes at Lubbock college apartment complexes as they host parties in conjunction with showcasing what they have to offer, hoping to sign new leases with the appeal of a pool party.
The Red Raiders are showcasing and attracting while building a new brand.
