A Changing Game
Certain words are just associated with certain parts of the year for sports fans. If you're a baseball fan, August means the "dog days." If you're a football fan, the same month immediately makes you think "two-a-days."
Not at Mizzou. Not this year.
Following back to back years in which Gary Pinkel said he had seen his team suffer more injuries than ever before, the Tigers will never practice more than once in a day leading up to their August 31st opener.
"Thank God," senior defensive end Michael Sam said.
The change is not as drastic as it may seem. Missouri had just five scheduled two-a-days last August. The Tigers went through two full practices on the same day just three times. The approach remains the same.
