Murphy-Richardson in no rush
Goodyear (Ariz.) Desert Edge three-star Ismael Murphy-Richardson has a good start to his final year of high school ball Friday night as the Scorpions blew out Phoenix South Mountain 54-8.
Murphy-Richardson sounds like, at the moment at least, that his recruitment is on the backburner.
"I am going to take visits but I am not sure of where and when," Murphy-Richardson said.
Arizona State, Arizona, Florida, Tennessee, UCLA and Washington have already offered Murphy-Richardson. He has already made some unofficials visits.
"I have seen ASU and Arizona," Murphy-Richardson. "They are my home-state schools. I have seen Washington, Oklahoma and UCLA. I like everybody. They are all good schools. it is hard for me to say who is recruiting me the hardest."
Most schools are recruiting him as linebacker but Arizona State is recruiting him for its 3-Back position.
"It doesn't really matter [what side of the ball I play on]," Murphy-Richardson said. "I am just looking for the best place for me.
"I like ASU. The coaches are cool. They are close which is good for me."
Murphy-Richardson is seemingly not concerned with recruiting at the moment. Especially with a game against chief rival Peoria Liberty next weekend.
"I really want to focus on my season," Murphy-Richardson said. "We have a big game next week, they are our rival.
"I know I will make official visits but I am not sure right now about it. I want to see Washington, UCLA and Oklahoma. I can see ASU they are close. I am not worried about it right now, that is all."
When pressed about when he may take those visits or even make a commitment, Murphy-Richardson could not say.
"I could make [the visits] and commit during the season or after," Murphy-Richardson said. "I need to talk to my coach and figure all of that out."
The 6-foot-5 215-pounder had 68 tackles and 6.5 sacks and caught 32 passes for 747 yards and 11 touchdowns last season.
