Wright opens things up, UVa jumps into the fray
This time of year when so many changes are taking place in college basketball's coaching ranks, it inevitably affects the status of recruits around the country. One player in that boat right now is Chris Wright, who is one of the top players in the class of 2007. The 6-foot-1, 190-pounder made a verbal commitment to N.C. State in January, but he has had a change of heart after Herb Sendek's decision to leave Raleigh for Arizona State.
"I've decided to open my recruitment and I'm starting from scratch," said the standout from St. John's College High School in Washington, D.C. "I don't have any favorites and I'm not going to be committing anytime soon."
With his decision made to start the recruiting process over, Wright has been hearing from several major programs in the last week.
"Virginia, Villanova, Wake Forest, DePaul, Georgetown, Virginia Tech, Michigan and Georgia Tech have all called," said Wright, adding that Villanova, Wake Forest and Duke were his other finalists when he chose the Wolfpack earlier this year.
