Displaced New Orleans corner calls A&M new home
Bellaire cornerback Lionel Smith was a surprise unofficial visitor Saturday at Texas A&M. Instead of taking part in the NIKE training camp, Smith chose to spend his time checking out Aggieland and talking with the Aggie coaching staff.
Smith began his junior season in high school at little St. Bernard High School south of New Orleans, but Hurricane Katrina moved him and his family to Houston where he began playing for Texas class 5A Bellaire.
Now, Smith has a new place to call home, and he will be there sooner rather than later.
