Vols Eyeing Another Detroit Prospect
It's not uncommon to see the Tennessee football program establish recruiting ties in far-flung locations, to which they return often to pull prospects. Until Bruce Pearl arrived in Knoxville though, it wasn't something that typically happened on the basketball side of things. The Vols' recruitment of Detroit's Corperrayle Harris, among others in the 2007 class, is a sign that things may be changing.
Harris (6-foot-4, 170 pounds) from Redford High School in Detroit, is a versatile combo-guard with some significant early interest in Tennessee, a development that came about in large part because of the Vols' successful recruitment of Harris' longtime AAU teammate Ramar Smith.
Harris is a combo-guard who does a variety of things well on the court. He's not a prolific three-point shooter, but he showed that he was more than capable of knocking down the open perimeter jumper this weekend. He handles it well enough to think that he can play some point down the road, and he's adept at getting into the lane and finishing.
He plays big because of a long frame, and that coupled with his quickness makes him a very capable defender. Those traits make it easy to see why Pearl would envision him as a nice fit in his style of play.
