Top LB target wants an early decision

Duke is looking to the northeast to potentially find a talented linebacker, and the Blue Devils have concentrated significant attention on a familiar location.


Westwood, Mass., Xaverian Brothers defensive end/linebacker Eriks Reks is well versed in Duke football. He knows because he spent his first two years of high school playing alongside current Duke quarterback Zack Asack at Xaverian.


The Devils are already giving a heavy recruiting pitch to Reks because the talented athlete is open about wanting to make a commitment somewhere before his senior season starts. Duke offered the 6-foot-5, 227 pounder very early to try to make a strong initial impression.


Reks visited the Duke campus during spring practice to watch the Blue Devils work out and get a chance to meet the coaching staff face to face. Reks hasn't made any other trips since then, but he does have a couple of events coming up on his calendar.
