John Flowers blooming through self-motivation
WASHINGTON, D.C.,--On the wall of his bedroom at the family home in Waldorf, Md., John Flowers has a piece of notebook paper along with two pages pulled from a local high-school basketball magazine.
Flowers, the 6-foot-7, 195-pound swing forward from St. Mary's Ryken High School who committed to West Virginia's basketball program about 10 days ago, was playing Saturday in the Charlie Weber Capital Invitational with his future coach, John Beilein, seated with about 50 others watching his D.C. Blue Devil team play at a gym at Gallaudet University.
