PITTSBURGH--One of the trends you find on recruiting combine stops around the East and Midwest is that more current players from various major programs also are showing up to "counsel" this year's crop of juniors.
Ohio State had maybe six members of the current team mingling among the college recruiters and rising seniors at its NIKE camp about a week ago. The Joe Butler camp was no different.
Though it was being held at the UPMC Training Center, and not on a college campus, signees and veterans of both Pitt and WVU were among those watching members of the college freshman class of 2007.
It was Lyons, 6-foot-7, 205, who took a cell phone call from WVU/Virginia commitment Bradley Starks on the training center carpet while observing '07 prospect and friend Lamont Smith. Starks notified his future pass-catching buddy that the deal for the Orange County QB was done.
