Back on May 4th, ScarletNation.com had the chance to speak with class of 2007 prospect Corey Chandler from Newark East Side High School. Joining him during the session was East Side staffer Troy Long. The 6-foot-2 combo guard has rocketed up the Rivals.com rankings during the past season, where he is currently slotted at 76 in the Rivals.com Top 150. He has also been very up front about where he wants to continue his education after his time at East Side is done

ScarletNation.com: So, what kind of season did you have this year?
Corey: I had an alright season
.I could have done better.
ScarletNation.com: What was your line
scoring, etc?
Corey: I averaged 22 points, 8 rebounds and a bunch of assists
ScarletNation.com: Anyway, what was East Side's record and how did you finish the season?
Corey: 18-7.
we could have done better.
ScarletNation.com: Did you reach the state playoffs?
Corey: We made it to the states, but we lost in the first round in an upset to a team we beat twice (Irvington).
ScarletNation.com: Are they in your league?
Corey: Yes
ScarletNation.com: So you'll get them next year, right?
Corey: Right!
ScarletNation.com: What would you consider the strengths of your game as we stand right now?
Corey: My ball handling and shooting
especially 3 pointers.
ScarletNation.com: Any idea percentage wise?
Coach Long: We didn't really keep track of percentages, but in the 4th quarters of games, he was money.
ScarletNation.com: Are you playing AAU ball right now?
Corey: Yes, for the New Jersey Roadrunners.
ScarletNation.com: Who's on that team?
Corey: Me, Keon Lawrence (Weequahic), Mekongo-Mbala (St. Pats), Formbor (St. Pats), Marciano (Seton Hall Prep)
and a lot of young players like Desmond Wade (Linden), Justin Sofman (West Milford), Darell Lampley (Linden).
