UCLA offers two-way standout
If there is one certain thing that UCLA looks for since Karl Dorrell became coach when it comes recruiting football players is this — they love athletic guys with the versatility to play multiple positions on the D-I level.
It had been rumored they were on the verge of offering a two-way standout.
Now that rumor has become a reality.
The Bruins offered defensive end/tight end Devin Mahina from Upland, Calif., a scholarship.
Mahina definitely fits the bill of a Bruin recruit. He has the athleticism and versatility they like, plus he's an excellent student.
"UCLA made it official today (May 23rd)," Upland assistant coach Mike Esquivel said. "Coach John Wristen called Coach (Tim) Salter to let him know. Coach Wristen said the paperwork would be mailed to the Mahina household immediately."
