Tide reels in second pledge of the day
Marist High School linebacker Jennings Hester picked up an offer from Alabama two weeks ago and last week was in Tuscaloosa for an unofficial visit. The Crimson Tide quickly became the heavy favorite for his signature, and on Monday Jennings, 6-foot-3, 215 pounds, decided to go public with his commitment to UA.
"I called Coach 'Cheese' (Charlie Harbison) Friday to let him know I was ready to commit. I didn't want to go public until today, but the whole staff knew on Friday. After I spoke with 'Cheese' he put Coach (Mike) Shula and Coach (Joe) Kines on with me. They were all excited. I could hear them celebrating in the background," Hester said. "After my visit I knew Alabama was the place for me and really it was just a matter of when. I was very interested after the offer, but on the visit I fell in love with the school."
