Virginia target Jones impressive this spring
While landing a strong 2007 recruiting class is the major focus for the Virginia basketball program right now, UVa's coaches have continued to recruit several 2008 prospects.
One player the Cavaliers think highly of is Andre Jones, a 6-foot-3, 165-pound shooting guard from Nansemond River High School in Suffolk, Va. Jones has drawn rave reviews on the AAU circuit this spring and will get a chance to further showcase his skills this week.
The high-scoring guard left his home earlier today for St. Louis, where he will take part in the Nike Hoops Jamboree, which is a showcase camp for the top players in the nation in the 2008 and 2009 classes.
"As far as I know, it's a prestigious tournament," Jones said. "I want to see if I am actually one of the elite players in the country, and I want to show the people at the camp what I can do."
