Gant's load gets heavier with the heat
Georgia senior defensive end Ray Gant's settling into his role as a key cog smack dab in the center of the Bulldogs' defensive line as the team goes through the heat of summer workouts.
Fortunately for Gant, he's had plenty of time to get used to being a leader up the middle of a Georgia defense that'll rely on him and sophomore Jeff Owens to help fill the void left by the graduated Kedric Golston and Gerald Anderson.
Though mostly used as a second-wind for Golston and Anderson his first three years on the field, Gant and Owens found themselves playing alongside one another as the Bulldogs held off Arkansas 23-20 Oct. 13 of last year.
Gant's started 11 games in the last three years, registering 66 tackles and three sacks.
