Beasley ready to take a bite of the Little Apple
It was only a matter of time. That is what everyone said about Michael Beasley and his likely commitment to Kansas State. The time has come. The five-star forward from Washington D.C. is headed to the Big 12.
After de-committing from Charlotte, Beasley followed his close friend Dalonte Hill, a new KSU assistant and former Charlotte assistant that Beasley committed to over a year ago, to Middle America. Beasley confirmed the news with Rivals.com on Saturday night.
"I figured it was now or never," Beasley said. "When (Hill) left Charlotte, I don't know if I was feeling the love like I was (at KSU). I wanted to go somewhere that I was loved."
Beasley, the No. 3 ranked player in the class of 2007 by Rivals.com, feels the most love from Hill.
"Before he got his start in coaching, we were tight," Beasley said of his relationship with Hill. "He was my coach but he was more like my brother. Now I'm going off to college and I'll be spending time with my older brother. That is the way I look at it."
For Kansas State, the Wildcats are looking at Beasley's pledge as the starting point for bigger things to come down the road. Also on the radar are the No. 1 and No. 2 players in the country - O.J. Mayo and Bill Walker.
Bob Huggins has put in the work and laid the relationship groundwork with the Cincinnati duo. Are the next? Beasley and a host of others in the Little Apple hope so.
