New York hoops prospect on UK visit
The early departure of three players from last year's basketball roster has Tubby Smith with two additional scholarships in the Class of 2006. While most of Kentucky's previous targets have already signed, the Wildcats have managed to find a prospect late in the process who could help the frontcourt.
Tyrone Nash, a 6-foot-7, 210-pound forward from New York, arrived in Lexington on Wednesday afternoon for an official visit.
"This all came together pretty fast," said the player's father, Sidney Nash. "About three weeks ago, Tubby Smith contacted Tyrone's coach and told him that they were looking for a player like Tyrone to come in and help them. They said they thought he had already signed somewhere - someone started a rumor that he was going to Pennsylvania - and they were surprised that he was still available.
"So they took a look at him and offered a scholarship. Tyrone couldn't believe it. You should have seen the huge smile on his face when he found out."
