Smith becomes third member of 2007 Herd
South Point, Ohio, dual-threat quarterback Chris Smith (6-foot-3, 220 pounds, 4.65 seconds) made his college decision today at his high school in front of local media. The talented signal caller, who holds six scholarship offers, surprised some in attendance with his decision. With South Point head coach Dan McDavid by his side, Smith confidently stepped to the podium to make the announcement that sent cheers throughout Huntington.
Smith chose Marshall today over offers from Cincinatti, Iowa, West Virginia, Bowling Green, and Ohio at his 1:00pm press conference. The early decision came as a surprise to most as Smith had previously said he wait to commit until later in the recruiting process.
The South Point signal caller is a dynamic athlete who has excelled in South Point's spread offense. He threw for over 1,600 yards and 16 touchdowns last season. He also rushed for 700 yards and another six scores.
