Morrilton's Burton commits to Hogs
The Razorbacks' recruiting roll continues as the Hogs offered Morrilton outside linebacker prospect Freddy Burton yesterday afternoon and received his commitment later that night.
Burton, 6-foot-2, 185 pounds, has been playing safety for the Devil Dogs, but Arkansas defensive coordinator and linebackers coach Reggie Herring moved him to linebacker and told Burton he was impressed with what he saw. Burton is in the mold of current Razorback starting outside linebacker Freddie Fairchild, who was only 176 pounds when he signed with Arkansas out of Little Rock, Ark., Central.
"I went to football practice and my coaches were talking to me, and he told me they were going to offer me," Burton said. "I talked to coach Malzahn later on and he went ahead and made the offer. I came home and discussed it with my parents, and I just went ahead and made my decision."
