Reading between the lines
Is Mark Richt's naming of Joe Tereshinski the staring quarterback a stop gap or final solution? Neither, it was the easy choice as Tereshinski has done nothing to lose his first team spot and none of the other three quarterbacks in the race have done enough to unseat him.
Not to read too much into quotes, but Richt said that Tereshinski "deserves to start this game." The optimal word there is "this". There is no doubting that Tereshinski deserves the start being a senior who has played a variety of roles over the course of his career and always been eager to help the team in any way that he could. The question is: did he earn the start? If you are considering career achievement, then the answer is yes, but if you only factor in the off-season quarterback race, then he merely held on.
