Truth to the rumors?
Saturday's big game in Austin between the Texas Longhorns and the Ohio State Buckeyes played host to several big-name recruits, including a group from Gilmer that included current Texas commitment Curtis Brown along with high profile juniors Justin Johnson, David Snow and Lamar Harris.
Johnson, a running back/linebacker prospect that is considered by most to be one of the top overall prospects in the country for 2008, said he enjoyed the visit, including some of the upgrades that have been made around Royal-Memorial Stadium.
The race for Johnson's eventual commitment is thought by most to have Texas and Oklahoma as the clear front-runners. But the 6-foot-1, 210-pound playmaker, who has trips planned to College Station and to Dallas for the Texas-OU game, said people are getting way ahead of themselves with all of the speculation.
