Tennessee got some good news tonight on the recruiting front from an area where good news is historically hard to come by. Tallahassee prospect Deshuan Barnes gave the Vols a public verbal commitment tonight in a televised segment that aired on ESPN U during their college football telecast on Thursday.

Barnes (6-foot-2, 195 pounds, 4.4 40-yard dash), from Lincoln High School in Tallahassee, chose the Vols over a host of big-time offers in what many are viewing as a surprise move.
