Panther-lair.com # Pitt (6-1) takes on Rutgers (6-0) Saturday at Heinz Field. The game will be televised nationally on ESPN2 at 5:45 pm EST. Eric Collins will do the play-by-play while Andre Ware will handle the color.
# Pitt is now 10-3 in its last 13 games. The Panthers won 4 of their last 6 a year ago and are 6-1 this year.
# The last time Pitt beat a nationally ranked team was in November of 2004 when they beat West Virginia 16-13 at Heinz Field. Rutgers is ranked No. 19 in the country in both the AP and USA Today polls. There are only 7 unbeaten teams in the country and three are members of the Big East. Rutgers (6-0), West Virginia (6-0) and Louisville (6-0) all remain unbeaten. The Big East finished their non-conference games with an 80% winning percentage. It is the best winning percentage in Big East history.
# Pitt is 19-4 all-time against Rutgers but lost to the Scarlet Knights on the road last year by a score of 37-29. Rutgers jumped out to an early lead and led 27-0 at the half. Pitt made a second half comeback but it was not enough.
