Lost in the wake of last night's sudden firing of Alabama head coach Mike Shula were the Crimson Tide players, left shocked and dumbstruck after being told at a team meeting last night by Shula himself that there would be no coaching change.

"Nobody had told me anything other than the same rumors that everybody had heard," said sophomore quarterback John Parker Wilson. "I wasn't expecting it, personally. We were disappointed after the Auburn loss but we didn't know to expect this."
