Allen talks Irish pledge
HIALEAH, Fla.-Notre Dame received a big verbal commitment from another top-notch prospect in the Southeast last Thursday when Hialeah (Fla.) Hialeah-Miami Lakes running back Armando Allen picked the Fighting Irish over Florida. Shortly following his announcement, the lightning-fast back gave an exclusive interview to Rivals.com about his decision.
"My decision was a real tough one," Allen said. "I took a visit to Notre Dame and took a visit to Florida. I talked to both coaches and both have been good to me since day one. It came down to where I fit best. It came down to the opportunity that I will have at Notre Dame. So I prayed about it and my heart just told me it was Notre Dame."
Allen had an in-home visit with Fighting Irish head coach Charlie Weis last Wednesday, the day before he was set to announce. That visit made a big difference in his recruitment.
