Even though Jack Bicknell Jr. hasn't been to Lubbock yet he's out on the road and making huge impressions on the offensive line prospects currently committed to Texas Tech, like he did with Blake Emert on Wednesday.
"Coach Leach and Coach Bicknell just left the house. It was real fun. Coach Bicknell seemed like a real nice guy, he's kind of laid back like Coach Leach is," said Emert. "He was telling me, 'now we're going to have a lot of fun on the field this year, when it's time to get serious, we'll get serious, but we're going to have a lot of fun this year'.
Even though in-climate weather hit the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex pretty hard Leach and Bicknell made their visit as scheduled.
"They stayed about two hours. They said it was a little icey but it was an alright drive. I think they came from Houston, so they really didn't tell me how long it took."
Emert admitted that he was a little nervous when he first heard about Bill Bedenbaugh leaving for Arizona but after seeing Bicknell along with Leach he was relieved.
"When I heard Coach Bedenbaugh had left, I was pretty bummed because I had a relationship with him and I didn't know what to expect with Coach Bicknell. But I like him a lot and he seemed like a real nice guy and someone I could get to know. He seemed like a real good coach."
Emert will be making his official visit to Tech this weekend and he'll arrive the same say that Bicknell will.
"He still hasn't been to Lubbock, so he said he is going to have to learn with all of us this weekend. He is going to get into Lubbock this Friday morning."
As far as his in-home visit and his upcoming visit goes Emert came away feeling like he knew everything he needed to and he's looking forward to the weekend.
"They pretty much explained everything that I need to know. I'm looking to meet the other offensive lineman who have committed, all the other commits. I think Jerrod Gooch and I forgot who else was going to come. I know that Bront Bird is going to come. I've talked to him a lot, from Odessa. We just started talking a lot because he went to the SMU game and the Texas game and I was at both of those and we've been talking. We've been keeping in touch on MySpace and stuff."
