Three-star safety has a change of heart
Three-star defensive back Chris Conte (6-3, 180, 4.5) from Los Angeles (Calif.) Loyola was a longtime commit to Cal but in the back of his mind. In his heart he was hearing the song of a different school and in the end the talented safety decided to follow his heart.
Conte changed his mind and committed to UCLA, but it wasn't easy.
"It was definitely a tough decision," Conte said. "Cal is a good school and Coach Jeff Tedford was great.
"That was the hardest part because I got to know them. The whole Cal coaching staff was great.
"My decision wasn't based on anything negative about Cal," Conte said. "I just felt very strongly about the opportunity at UCLA and I have been a fan of UCLA my whole life. It was too hard to pass up."
