No Love Lost
There are no bashful maidens in this tale. Bashing in the paint, perhaps, but that is about as close as it will get when the Cougars and Huskies meet in Seattle for a rematch of their Apple Cup hoops series. The first game in Pullman was won handily by the Wazzu, 75-47 - setting a record for the largest margin of victory by the Cougars in the lengthy series. But the Huskies were playing without their best player - freshman center Spencer Hawes - and were visibly confused in virtually all aspects of the game that day.
It appears to be a different story this month. Washington will not only have a healthy Hawes back - he had an injured ankle and suffered from a viral infection last month - but will also be playing at home, where they are 15-1 this year [their only loss coming to Arizona]. As if that were not enough, the Huskies are on a slight roll, winning five of their last six to put themselves back into NCAA bubble contention for the Big Dance. As if all that were not enough - the Cougars will be coming into this game toting their highest ranking ever - 10th. With all those crucial factors involved, will the Huskies find themselves immersed in an emotional bubble?
